Festive Eyelook for Diwali

Diwali is one of the most important festival in India. Festivities are planned on scale similar to Christmas. Everyone plans on food, gifts, party etc but few beauty crazed people think about the makeup they would be wearing for Diwali party 😉

And this is what I plan to do, a warm jewel toned eye look

Final look 1

I started with NARS Smudgeproof as the primer, followed by MAC Tan pigment all over the eyelid. Since I don’t get to use MAC pigments on regular basis, this was a good chance to have some play with them. It’s a beautiful rose gold colour.

Step1 MAC Tan Pigment

As the next step, I applied MAC Blue Brown pigment in the outer 2/3rd part of the eye. There was fall out but it can be minimised by using a flat dense eye brush. This is such a gorgeous pigment , beautiful duochrome. In this look, since I have used a rose gold color as base, the pigment looks more brown then blue.

Step 2 MAC Blue Brown Pigment

To give more depth to the look, I used MAC Foley and Embark eyeshadow as the socket colour. The key at this step is blending. Blend it enough to soften the line, yet keep the distinct colours visible

Step 3 MAC Foley and Embark

Using MAC Carbon as the outer corner colour adds that extra depth to the look. My favourite brush for this is Artiste dome shaped smudge brush. Its dense and pointed, so color application is precise avoiding the racoon effect.
Step 4 MAC Carbon

I finished the look with Loreal gel eyeliner, Milani Liquif’ye in Black on water line. On my lower lash line, I applied MAC Twink using an angle brush.

Sisley Phyto Lip Shine & Kohl Star

When these beauties landed on my desk, I couldn’t wait to go home and have a play with them.

The kohl pencil was an instant love. It’s deep blue with silver glitter in it, an easy way to perk up the look without being over the top. Its smooth and easy to apply with little to no transfer. Generally speaking I am not a glitter person, but this is perfect to perk up your look without looking over the top. A special mention to the blue diamante at the top of the pencil, I just love it.

The lipstick is termed as Phyto Lip Shine,a glossy, ultra-luminous treatment lipstick. The website describes it as

more colour than lip gloss, more shine than lipstick

And after using it, I can safely say, that it describes it perfectly.

I got to try Sheer Coral, which is light orange with golden shimmer in it . The color reminds me of Indian silk fabric. I am worn this couple of times and it goes well both dresses and Indian traditional wear.

Even though color is described as sheer ,it’s very buildable and shows well on my pigmented lips. Also it has a very lightweight feel to it. I was wary of the shimmer in the lipstick fearing that it would stick to lips after pigment wore off, but that was not the case.

Feeling nothing but love for the lip color it has quickly become my go to lipstick.

Australis Intensifye Liquid Liner

For past few weeks, I was on hunt of a black liquid eyeliner, which was pigmented and dried to non-matte finish.

Since, I didn’t want to spend big on it, I tried all drugstore brands at my local Priceline and came home with Love Australis Intensifye liquid eyeliner in Blackest Black. When I had swatched it in store, what impressed me the most was the pigmentation. It was intense black with no watery texture like other brands. One swipe was all needed to achieve deep black effect.

After using it for couple of days, I can say it performs really well without any transfer and budging. It dries off non-matte and easy to work with.

The only thing which might be of concern is the thickness of the tip. I personally think that it won’t be easy to achieve a very fine line with it since the tip is slightly thick. As I wasn’t after fine eyeliner look , this works in my favor.

I bought mine from Priceline for $12.95 AUD. Now you can also get it online.

MAC Surf Baby Powerpoint EyePencil : Blue Noon

Even before I go in details of this little beauty from MAC Surf Baby Collection, let me tell you that this the 2nd Blue Noon pencil I have got from this collection. Yes, I love it so much !!

Color : Its a teal color with more blue. The beauty of a color like this one is that it can be used to brighten any eye look or just a splash of cool color on a hot summer day.
Its a beautiful color, but goes a little sheer but still enough pigmentation to get the look in 1-2 strokes

Texture : Smooth and creamy but still hold the shape while lining.

Would I recommend it : Oh yeah…didn’t I say this is the 2nd Blue Noon. Although having said that, its not a must have , its more for girls who like their blues and greens

MAC Eye Kohl in Teddy

With MAC releasing so many collection one hardly gets a chance to look at their permanent collection. So, while browsing through MAC counter in Chadstone, I came across this little gem,an eye kohl in dark chocolate brown .

Its a basic dark brown eyeliner , which stays put when applied on upper lash line. Its very creamy in texture which means no dragging or pulling of eyelid while applying it.

An easy option when I want to do no fuss eye look.

I think I shop too much..

Okay, please don’t think that I am bragging about all the shopping I have done. I am doing this post more in an attempt to keep a check on my lemmings and their conversion to quick depleting bank balance. It seems ( in fact it is true) that I have got an insatiable desire for shopping and I feel I need every product which is raved about.
And somehow I find ways to rationalise the shopping also.

So, I have decided to do posts on whatever I have shopped in a month and then view it before buying any more.
I will also do post on any slip ups…its more like putting myself out there to be corrected.

I personally think, it would help me, if I can see  my previous shopping ( and not think in my head, that I haven’t bought anything for long) before doing any more.
Again, please don’t mistake this as bragging, I am really try to fix something here.

Here, is all the shopping I have done in month of June till now.

I got these from Priceline 50% off Bourjois Sale.
